On the morning of November 8, the first batch of in tunnel interchangeable dual-mode shield machines developed by Sunward intelligent equipment group successfully went offline in the joint venture of China Railway Sunward. The two shield machines are customized by China Railway Sunward for Shenzhen Metro Line 13, which will be used for the construction of the section from liuxiandong station to Baimang station of line 13. This is the first time that Shenzhen Metro adopts double-mode shield machine for construction.

Because the shield machine has a huge body, the general shield machine, only the most front-end cutter head weighs about 100 tons. Generally, the exchange mode takes only about 15 days.

At present, China's full face tunnel boring machine products are mainly divided into earth pressure balanced shield machine and TBM. The earth pressure balanced shield machine is mainly used in soft soil and composite stratum where the excavation face cannot be self stable, and TBM is mainly used in the hard rock geological tunnel engineering where the stratum is relatively stable. However, if the geological conditions of both soft soil and hard rock are encountered, a single model of earth pressure balance shield or TBM can not solve the problem together.
The section from liuxiandong station to Baimang station of Shenzhen Metro Line 13 is the geological condition with both soft soil and hard rock. For this reason, the R & D team of China Railway Sunward has actively organized joint scientific research to tackle key problems and creatively designed the interchangeable double-mode shield machine in the tunnel, so that the construction requirements of two different stratum structures can be met on one shield machine. And in the tunnel exchange mode, to a great extent, to solve the problem of replacing cutter head of dual-mode shield machine.
Before that, the shield machine independently developed and produced by China Railway Sunward covers a series of large-scale high-end products such as earth pressure balance shield, slurry shield, hard rock shield, hard rock shield, pipe jacking machine, etc., which is widely used in the rapid construction of maglev, urban light rail, subway, comprehensive pipe Gallery, sponge City, underground space and various difficult foundation construction.
